David Herrera Performance Company
is a touring modern dance theater company from San Francisco, CA. Since 2007 DHPCo has utilized media elements, theatrical measures, and athleticism to produce emotionally textured material that is culturally rich and resonates with contemporary America. In particular, DHPCo creates works influenced by the Latino diaspora living in the United States as experienced by artistic director David Herrera.
DHPCo. mission includes touring as a means from which to gain visibility while honing their craft. Touring is essential to the company’s development inviting research & learning from other communities and implementing the new found knowledge into their local Home Seasons.
DHPCo. seeks out alliances with other arts organizations and individual artists contiuing their lineage of cross-pollinating and inter-disciplinary art. To date the company has had the pleasure of presenting numerous local companies and choreographers in their home season and tours.
Works by DHPCo. have been performed at Links Hall (Chicago), ODC Theater (S.F.), Dance Mission Theater (S.F.), San Jose State University (CA), The Garage-975 Howard (S.F.), Little Theater (Seattle, WA), Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts (S.F.), The 418 Project (Santa Cruz, Ca), and Orange County Community College (Ca).
The company has been awarded a Puffin Foundation Grant, and residencies at The Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts & Studio 210.
